Carol I. Cox
Wenatchee, Washington
February 24, 2008

Carol I. Cox, longtime second grade school teacher in Leavenworth, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2008. She was 85. Carol was born December 24, 1922, to Jerusha and Charles Hedding of Entiat, WA. She grew up in Entiat, graduating from Entiat High School and continuing her education at Eastern Washington State College. On June 9, 1945, Carol married her high school sweetheart, Glen S. Cox. They continued to live in Entiat until the family moved to Oroville, WA, in 1958 where Glen was involved in the apple industry. Carol and Glen had three children, Charles, John and Penne. Carol decided to finish her teaching degree and went to summer school at Eastern until graduating in 1969. That summer, the family moved to Leavenworth, WA, where she taught first and second grades for 20 years before retiring in 1988. Carol loved teaching and watching her young students succeed in their learning. Five years after her husband Glen passed away, she met and married a retired rancher, Wallace Eggleston, and moved to Wenatchee Heights where they lived until her death. Carol's hobbies included golfing, the outdoors and gardening.

She is survived by her second husband, Wallace Eggleston; her children, Charles Cox of Atlanta, GA, John Cox of Entiat and Penne Parsons of Spokane, WA, and their spouses; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 7, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at the Entiat Federated Church, 2150 Entiat Way, Entiat, WA.
