Hometown care and consideration

Doris H. M. (McDonald) Rowley
Wenatchee, Washington
February 17, 2008

Doris H. M. (McDonald) Rowley was born February 27, 1935, to Chester and Ila McDonald (both deceased) in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. She died February 17, 2008, in Wenatchee, WA. She became a registered nurse, graduating from Gault School of Nursing, Lethbridge, Alberta. Doris spent her life caring for her family and the public working as a registered nurse. She began her career at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital from 1964 to 1980. In the early 1980s, Doris and her family moved to Wenatchee where she was an RN at Deaconess, now Central Washington Hospital. In retirement, she provided gentle and loving in-home care to the elderly around the Wenatchee area.

Doris is survived by her brother, Gordon McDonald of Lethbridge; her loving son, Craig Rowley, his wife, Lorie, and two grandsons, Matthew and Cameron, of Bonney Lake, WA; and her daughter, Leanne Rowley, a graduate of Wenatchee High School, now living in Las Vegas, NV. Doris' interment will be in her home town of Lethbridge where her family established the first "white" settlement in the early 1900s and where many Canadian relatives reside.

The note was found at Doris' bedside...in her own words: "Doris Hazel Maxine (McDonald) Rowley has passed away after a grinding and debilitating illness. She asks forgiveness from those she has wronged and hopes her enemies will not celebrate too wildly!"

Doris' memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, located on the corner of Chelan and Ninth Streets. The family invites the community to share in a tribute to this Canadian-born, but US-influenced lady with strong, passionate beliefs of freedom and peace - whether you agreed or disagreed with her opinion - she made you stop, look, listen - and, hopefully, made a difference.

All friends, and even her adversaries, are welcome to share memories or anecdotes of her in The Wenatchee World online guestbook at www.legacy.wenatcheeworld.com. These will be displayed at her memorial service.
