Dorothy Esther Cummings-Floyd
Wenatchee, Washington
March 5, 2008

Dorothy Esther Cummings-Floyd of Wenatchee went home on her birthday, March 5, 2008. She was born in 1928 to Albert and Bertha Berdahl in Ingamar, MT. Dorothy graduated from St. Luke's Nursing School in Cutbank, MT, in 1949. Shortly after, she married Kenneth C. "K.C." Cummings. They made their first home in Knowlton, MT. After a few years of trying out farming, they pulled-up stakes and moved to Wenatchee in 1953, and then to East Wenatchee a short time later where Dorothy and K.C. raised their five children. Some years later, after the death of K.C., she married Jim Floyd. Dorothy and Jim spent most of their years in Quincy where they raised pigs and cattle. Upon retirement from farming, they moved back to the Wenatchee Valley.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Smith of Spring Creek, NV; sons, Curtis Cummings of Nederland, TX, Thomas Cummings of Rock Island, WA, and Ben Cummings of Winnemucca, NV; 13 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, K.C. Cummings and Jim Floyd; and daughter, Kim Cummings.

Dorothy had many great friends in the neighborhood that helped watch out for her. A special thank you to them for all they did from all of her family. Also, special thanks to Central Washington Hospital and Hospice staff, especially Zarima, for their care. Even to her last day, she was alert and sharp. Dorothy was an avid crossword puzzler and mystery reader.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in Dorothy's name.
