Homer Jackson passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008. He was born in Salyersville, KY, on July 11, 1923, the youngest son of George and Hattie Jackson, and moved with his family to the Wenatchee area in February 1925. Homer attended the Squilchuck two-room school through the eighth grade. The family moved to Saddle Rock Drive around the time that Pearl Harbor was bombed and he graduated from Wenatchee High School.
In 1943, Homer met and fell in love with Geraldine Waite. He married his sweetheart on November 30, 1943. They moved to Red Apple Road where they built a lovely home and raised their children, Dennis and Kathleen. When the children left home, they bought land on Burch Mountain and again built a lovely home. Homer retired from the Chelan County PUD as an electrical supervisor at Rocky Reach Dam. He was also active in the Backcountry Horsemen and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters. He is survived by his children, Dennis of Curlew, WA, and Kathleen of California; one sister, Lucy Powers of Tukwila, WA; and his brother-in-law, Herb Waite of Leavenworth. It is hard to tell the story of a man so rich in family and friends. Homer will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 1301 10th St. NE, East Wenatchee, followed by a reception at Leonardo's restaurant in Wenatchee. Gifts of memory can be given to the American Cancer Society.
