Maisie Edna (Veinotte) LaCasse

Maisie Edna (Veinotte) LaCasse passed away suddenly at her home on April 6, 2008. She was born May 31, 1916, to Harris and Leah (Mathieu) Veinotte in Timmins, Ontario, Canada. Maisie married Adrian "Gus" LaCasse on August 2, 1937, in Timmins. They moved to Vancouver, B.C., Canada, in 1949 and then to Wenatchee in 1953 when Gus was hired as the assayer for the Lovitt Mine. Maisie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. She also belonged to the Senior Activity Center, Eagles Auxiliary #204, Three Lakes Golf Course, RSVP and the McBride Orthopedic Bridge group. Maisie volunteered for many years at the Juvenile Center. She was employed at Sears before working at People's Department Store until they closed. Maisie remained active throughout her life. As a youngster, she enjoyed all kinds of sports including hockey and cross-country skiing. In later years, Maisie liked to golf and work in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus; her parents; two brothers, Jack and Harris, Jr.; and one sister, Kay Villeneuve. Maisie is survived by her son, John Ronald LaCasse and his wife, Sunnie, of Edmonds, WA; grandchildren, John, Jr. of Tacoma, WA, Kristen (Chad) Thomas of Everett, WA, Laura LaCasse of Edmonds, WA, and USMC Sgt. Maureen (Justin) Mendenhall of San Diego, CA; sister, Olive Dewar of Qualicum, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada.

Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2008. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
