Marc William Hewitt
Wenatchee, Washington
April 13, 2008

Marc William Hewitt, 48, life time resident of Wenatchee, died April 13, 2008.  Marc was born June 22, 1959 in Bellingham Washington to Edwin and Myrna Hewitt. Marc was preceded in death by his nephew and godson, David Steichen. Marc is survived by his wife Therese; daughter Katie Montes (and husband Adam); son Joel Hewitt; daughter Maggie Hewitt; his parents Edwin and Myrna Hewitt; his brothers, Ed Hewitt Jr., and John Hewitt and many nieces and nephews.

Marc attended Washington Elementary, Orchard Junior High, and Wenatchee High School, graduating from WHS in 1977, where he participated and excelled in golf, bowling and youth circus.  He attended Wenatchee Valley College and was an active member of the Choir.  Marc’s most infamous job during those times may have been at Pizza Inn, where after tossing dough all day, he would indulge in his own pepperoni and black olive pizza with a glass of milk (later becoming beer).  He was introduced to his wife Therese (Zanol) in 1981 by her brother and his college friend, John.  Marc and Therese married on August 21, 1982.  Marc worked at Central Washington Bank and Therese was a partner in Steichen & Hewitt Court Reporters. Thirteen short months later, Katie, the first of their three wonderful children arrived. In 1987 Marc and Therese were blessed with the arrival of their son Joel and in 1988 with their last child Maggie. By this time Marc had begun his long career at Chelan County PUD.  Marc and Therese stayed active and athletic with league bowling, Jack & Jill softball, Ridge to River and church league basketball. When the children were young Marc was the eternal “coach” at one point coaching all three children’s soccer teams simultaneously. In 1991 it was discovered that Therese had MS.  Not letting that stop them, Marc never missed a child’s baseball, basketball, volleyball, tennis or cheerleading game, match or event, most often with Therese at his side. With Therese’s MS, Marc quietly continued holding down his job at Chelan PUD, where he had many friends, housekeeping and gardening, tending his perfect lawn, parenting his children with all their school and activities, and remaining the faithful and constant companion and caretaker of his lifelong spouse. Marc and Therese always had children around, their own and their friends', all drawn to the open and fun loving home. Over the last three months Marc fought a valiant but short war with cancer, retaining his humor and concern for others to the end. Marc was a quiet and humble servant and friend to his family and neighbors. He was completely unaware of his impact on others and could never have imagined how greatly he will be missed.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to Wenatchee High School Athletic Booster Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 17, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wenatchee.
