Ralph “Frosty” LaVerne Honaker was born to Myrtle Close and Charles Alfred Honaker on October 16, 1911, in Cedar Bluffs, NE. His early childhood was spent in Wyoming and Montana. He graduated from Belt Valley High School in 1931. Frosty became a journeyman meat cutter owning and operating his own business before becoming a partner in Berger Meat Co. in Great Falls, MT. He came to Wenatchee in 1953 where he owned and operated the Arrow Café & Tavern. Frosty later bought Ernie’s Grocery and operated the store until retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Eagles, Knights of Columbus, Wenatchee Golf & Country Club and a former member of the Lions Club. Frosty was a leader of the Explorer Scouts program. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, golf, and especially having relatives and friends over for the holidays. We were blessed to have Frosty in our lives and he will remain in our hearts forever.
He is survived by the love of his life, Peggy. They were married for 71 years. Frosty is also survived by three children, Neil (Jim) Sugg of Tucson, AZ, Chuck Honaker of Othello, WA and Donna Richards (Jerry Monroe) of Cashmere, WA. He is survived by six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Eleanor Irish of Oak Harbor, WA; and many nieces and nephews. Frosty was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Slatten and his brother, Russell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Those who wish, may make memorial donations to a charity of their choice.
