Ruth H. Wellhousen died February 28, 2008, at Blossom Creek Memory Care Community in Wenatchee. She was born on March 29, 1914, in Gothenburg, NE, to Charles A. and Alice C. (Kraxberger) Strohmeyer. Her parents farmed in Colorado. After graduating from high school in Arriba, CO, she moved with her family to Twin Falls, ID. On January 16, 1938, Ruth married Martin F. Wellhousen. They were married for 52 years at the time of his death on October 4, 1990. Together, they successfully farmed and remodeled homes in both Hansen and Hazelton, ID. Ruth drove tractor, kept farm accounts and milked cows. She was a talented homemaker and outstanding seamstress. Ruth contributed to her community through 4H leadership, homemakers clubs, PTA and church. She moved to Wenatchee in May of 2006.
Survivors include her daughters, Janet W. (Dale) Crouse of East Wenatchee and Gail M. (Edward) Brune of Hazelton, ID; four granddaughters, Jennifer (Tony) Talbot of Wenatchee, Sarah Crouse of Seattle, Laurie (Dave) Kohtz of Boise, ID, and Beth Brune of Hazelton, ID; six great-grandchildren, Desiree Ingles of Ephrata, WA, Daniel, Martin, Henry and Samuel Talbot of Wenatchee, and Nathaniel Kohtz of Boise.
Burial will be in Twin Falls, ID, on March 17, 2008. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in East Wenatchee on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.
