Ruth Iris Peffley, 94, died the morning of February 29, 2008 at Colonial Vista. Born on March 4, 1914 to John and Mary E. Wilson of Brewster, WA, she was the tenth of eleven children. As a child, she suffered from Bright's Disease (Nephritis). Ruth began her elementary education at Brewster before moving to Oroville, WA, to complete her education. While working in Wenatchee in 1930, she dated and fell in love with Earl Peffley of Wenatchee. They married in 1932 and made their home in Wenatchee. Daughter, Pat, was born in 1940. The family moved to Sam's Valley, OR, around 1946 to begin farming. In addition to farming, Ruth worked as a secretary and bus driver for the Central Valley School District. In 1990, they returned to Wenatchee.
Ruth enjoyed walking in the Wenatchee Riverfront Park, gardening and visiting with her early morning coffee group at Target. The family appreciates the wonderful care provided by Dr. Peter Rutherford, his staff, and the facilities of Colonial Vista.
She is survived by her daughter, Pat Butler of Keizer, OR; her granddaughter-in-law, Jacki Butler; and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Shelby Butler of Keizer; her sister, June Jensen of Wenatchee; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents; five brothers; four sisters; and her grandson, Jeff Butler.
A celebration of her life will be held this spring at Brewster. Final interment will be at Salem, OR.
