Wanema Ann Lane Burke Beemer

Wanema died at her home in Leavenworth on January 27, 2008, from cancer. She was born September 6, 1936, to Earl and Elma Lane in Boise, ID. The family moved to Omak, WA, when Wanema was young. She graduated from Omak High School in 1954. On March 2, 1956, Wanema married Robert Burke and had two children. The family moved to Wenatchee in early 1960 where she worked as a travel agent for almost 30 years and traveled extensively. On March 11, 1989, Wanema married Thomas Beemer and moved to Leavenworth. Upon retiring, she enjoyed traveling, including trips with her daughter, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Wanema is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Mark Kestner; her son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Chris Burke; her step-daughter, Holly Beemer; her step-son, Steve Beemer; five grandchildren, Jennifer Kestner Dieringer, Becca Kestner, Christopher Burke, Jessica Burke and Katelyn Burke; her sister, Mary Canan; her brother, John Lane; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son; and her two husbands.

A celebration of Wanema's life will be held at her home in Leavenworth on February 9, 2008, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
