William Frederick Williams was born August 31, 1941, in Hamilton, New Zealand, the second child of Fred and Lorna Williams. He passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his home. Bill was a Pukekohe High School graduate at the age of 15, and then served a five year electrical apprenticeship, becoming a journeyman electrician in Pukekohe. He was a New Zealand police constable for seven years. Bill and his first wife, Jessie, were married in 1964 in Waiuku, NZ. They had two sons who were born in New Zealand before moving to the United States in 1973. Bill attended the Memphis School of Preaching and graduated in 1975. He and his family became American citizens as Bill followed a path as a minister, preaching in congregations in Oregon, Colorado, Washington and Australia. His wife, Jessie, passed away in 1997, and he married Kay Martin in March of 1998. Bill eventually worked for Alcoa in Wenatchee for 19 years before retiring in 1999 due to illness from his occupation. He was still preaching on occasion and was active in various volunteer positions included as an elected commissioner of the Eastmont Metropolitan Parks Department.
Bill is survived by his wife, Kay, of East Wenatchee; two sons, William Paul Williams and Andrew Lleullen Williams, both of Wenatchee; one grandson, William Beau Williams of New Mexico; sisters, Ann Stockley of Te Aroha, NZ, and Christine Cronin of Hamilton, NZ; one brother, Kendall of Waihou, NZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.
Services will be held Friday, May 16, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kings Orchard Church of Christ, 1610 Orchard Avenue in Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the India Fund designated for Bill, Jessie and Kay's sponsorship with Brother K. Mallaiah in South India.
